Zero pollution in the sea of RAM
In the context of the implementation of the strategy MaRaM-Zero pollution in the sea of RAM, outlined by the Regional Secretariat of the environment and natural resources, the Service of the Natural Park of Madeira, in coordination with the Regional Direction of Spatial Planning and Environment, promoted a campaign of information and awareness among the public of the direct beaches and bathing complexes of our archipelago.
Following the work already developed under the projects Life Eco Compatible and Life Madeira Monk Seal, this campaign aims to warn bathers to the need to pursue good environmental practice and to inform them about the impact of waste on water quality of the sea and of the possible consequences, both for the health of bathers, as for the marine environment and the species that depend on as in the case of the Monk Seal.
This campaign began the day July 17, 2015 and will run until the end of next month of August traveling so all the beaches of the autonomous region of Madeira.
Exhibition Eco Compatible on the beach of Faial
It was under the blue flag raising ceremony that the exhibition of the project Life Eco Compatible was evident in praia do Faial in Santana.
Apart from publicising the project reminded some environmental practices in favour of biodiversity and for the conservation of nature.
LIFE09 INF/PT/000045 CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
To celebrate the World Environment Day, the project Life Eco released to the public a statement of the importance of the application of good practices in Tourism activities of nature, agriculture and fishing.
The exhibition BE ECO COMPATIBLE has been open to the public from 5 to 12 June in the "warehouse of the market "and sought to draw attention to the danger that some human practices pose to the island biodiversity and gives indication of how best to act in situations that are referenced.
There, who already care in applying the best practices, might register as a stakeholder for this project, receiving in return a digital certificate and some material from the project that helps get the message across.
This exhibition is part of a communication project of good practices in protected areas, developed by SPNM in partnership with SPEA and with the financial support of the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community – project LIFE Eco Compatible, on the premise that the protected areas and the conservation of the species are an asset for the development of economic activities in the Madeira Archipelago.
We are aware, we want to be ECO compatible, we want to make echo these messages.
Championship Eco Cards
There was another echo championship cards on the Foundation João Pereira - Ponta do Sol where attended by 32 participants.
The eco cards championship is open to the entire population and the dates of their realization are disclosed by the local partner, as well as through the web page of the project Life Eco Compatible and SPNM's facebook page.
Visit in catamaran
On May 9, was held within the framework of the seminar of the project Life Eco Compatible, a ride aboard the maritime craft-tourist "VMT Madeira Catamaran" which is dedicated to the activity of whale watching in the autonomous region of Madeira.The activity was initiated by 3:0 pm and the 123 participants on board were in expectation of how that trip would be, since the enthusiasm was great at spotting marine animals.
A few miles off the coast the first date was with a turtle, that not everyone was lucky enough to detect later spotted the seabirds Atlantic Cory's Shearwater, Bulwer's Petrel and Common Tern, and finally appeared the so desired bottlenose dolphin and a group of pilot whales.

Seminar "Development and Biodiversity"
In order to define a communication and intervention strategy to ensure the socio-economic sustainability of the region , based on the Natura 2000 sites for the future , LIFE ECO Compatible project promoted the seminar " Development and Biodiversity".

Training course for teachers
It took place on April 15 at school 2nd and 3rd cycles of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, a training action for teachers under the theme: "Protected areas and Birds da Região Autónoma da Madeira".
The action was supported by technical Service of Madeira Natural Park where talked about the protected areas of the region, the sites of Natura 2000, project LIFE Eco Compatible and the best practices to take into natural areas. The SPEA addressed the topic of birds.
Four Views Hotels Group became Institutional stakeholder
To mark this date, an informative Panel was placed in hotel Four Views Oasis, next to the beach of Reis Magos, aiming to educate guests and residents to the impact of marine junk on the coast of Madeira.
Since January 2014 to sponsor hotel the praia dos Reis Magos, where he assumed the commitment to keep clean the beach and make it a pleasant place and visitable by all of us. This was a pioneering initiative in Europe and is held in partnership with Caniço school and association of parents, junta de freguesia do Caniço and several other entities of local society http://www.fourviewshotels.com/blog/?p=666 .
DICA - Agri-Food Trade information disclosure
The Regional Secretariat of the environment and natural resources through the Regional Direction of Agriculture and Rural Development offers weekly and in digital format, a set of interesting and useful information for producers, traders and the general public.
In issue No. 111/2015 left an article on the project Life Eco Compatible titled "Be eco compatible in Natura 2000 area" with special emphasis on good agricultural practices.

Be Eco Compatible in agriculture
It took place on February 14 by 10:00 at the Civic Center of Porto da Cruz, a training action for parents of the students of the EB/EP 123 of Porto da Cruz.
This activity aims to remind the good practices in agriculture in favour of biodiversity.
Technicians from the Regional Direction of Agriculture are associated to the project Life Eco Compatible
On February 6, 2015, the technicians of the Division in support of the farmer and of the Division of technical assistance and agricultural mechanization have become individual stakeholders of the project Life Eco Compatible.
In this way, the material produced within the framework of the project targeted for agriculture, will be used by these technicians in your area of work for the promotion of application of good agricultural practices in favour of biodiversity of our island.
Reinstallation of the artistic installation "sea monster"
On 25 November, the artistic installation "sea monster", which was open to the public in the municipality of Santa Cruz was reinstalled in the municipality of Porto Moniz living Science Centre.
This work intends to warn and to raise awareness of the problem of garbage in the sea, having been carried out by young people and teachers from the Establishment Vila Mar – Segurança Social Madeira, IP-RAM, for being supporters of the project Life Eco Compatible.
It should be noted that this work was all done with garbage, specifically the iron, collected in two beach cleanup actions in the nature reserve of Garajau, in 2013.
Results of the beach cleanup and ribeira in R.N. Garajau
In the past, day 21 November took place in Establishment Vila Mar-Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM an action to raise awareness about the marine waste within the project Life Eco Compatible.
This action participated in approximately 40 people where then were involved in regular cleaning to the beach and the River, where a screening and quantification of waste collected.
So, they collected 450 kg of organic waste, 120 kg of metal and 60 kg of other waste: 95% plastic, 2% paper, 1% glass, 2% other waste.
Please note that this institution is the aforementioned project institutional stakeholder and promotes along with their young and teaching and non-teaching staff, good practices in favour of natural areas.
With this action was intended to address the importance of good practices and correct conduct having on marine or coastal areas, in this case the Natural Reserve of Garajau, aiming at the safeguarding of biodiversity and economic activities, enhancing the enjoyment and leisure.

Continuation of the 2nd's surveys
This week some elements of the SPNM will be again in the field, to continue this work already started and which will contribute decisively to project assessment LIFE Eco Compatible.
This 2nd phase of awareness raising and collecting surveys is accompanied by the distribution of manuals of good practice for fishermen and farmers (in the form of wall calendar agriculta/fishing) and agents (in the form of a schedule of events).
The project Life Eco Compatible promotes communication/awareness actions for coastal economic areas or populations traditionally linked to professional fishing and leisure, rural populations traditionally agriculture-related or economic, and agents linked to tourist activities, nature tourism which takes place focused on the direct approach to target groups, since it was found to be the most efficient approach to transmission of messages from the project.
Life Eco Compatible referenced in newsletter n° June 26, 2014 - Order Economists of Madeira
The order of the Economists of Madeira, in the VII Annual Conference 2014 tourism – communication of Sustainability practices, joined the project Life Eco Compatible becoming stakeholder and one of the initiatives that did was the compensation of CO2 emissions (carbon dioxide) related to that event. All emissions associated with this Conference were accounted for obtaining the value of 731kgC02eq.
This value will be used for the determination of the number of native trees to plant in the Natural Park of Madeira, in order to contribute to the reversal of emissions associated with the travel and energy consumption related to the Conference.
We congratulate its responsible for the excellent initiative which is a demonstration true spirit eco-compatible.

Eco Cup Cards in Câmara de Lobos
On 28 June, the Service of the Natural Park of Madeira (SPNM) was in Câmara de Lobos, and in partnership with the parish of Câmara de Lobos initiated the Eco Cup Cards.
This cup appears within the project Life Eco Compatible, where with this activity aims to promote in a playful, relaxed and in the transmission group of good practices in agriculture and fisheries in favour of biodiversity and consequent benefit in economic activity equivalent.
With the Organization of this Championship, the SPNM intended to promote the correct application of good practices in economic activity of each group and at the same time make them aware for the preservation of the Natural patrimony and the economic return obtained from the same.

A SEA FREE OF GARBAGE BENEFITS THE FISHERIES ACTIVITY
On June 27, by the 8:0 pm, within the project Life Eco Compatible, the Service of the Natural Park of Madeira (SPNM) was in Câmara de Lobos to chat with the local community about the importance that each of us has to implement good practices in support of fishing activity. This initiative results from a partnership between the SPNM and the parish of Câmara de Lobos.
"Urban culture for nature conservation"- Project Life Eco in RTP Madeira
In the last show Madeira Viva day June 24, we learn how we can disseminate good practice through the urban culture in favour of nature conservation.
"Urban culture for the conservation of nature"
On June 20, 2014, by 14:00 h, multipurpose room Establishment Vila Mar-Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM, Lazareto, were presented the results of the initiative "urban culture for nature conservation".
This initiative resulted from the partnership between the Madeira Natural Park Service (SPNM),
Establishment Vila Mar Social Security Institute, IP-RAM and the STG Crew (Bboys and Bgirls group of Madeira), in the framework of the program of stakeholders of the project LIFE Eco Compatible, who developed a unique and innovative activities demonstrating its support for the promotion of good practices in protected natural areas in support of socio-economic development and biodiversity in the archipelago of Madeira.
In this initiative have been integrated into various actions:
-Presentation of the video clip "HIP HOP by NATURE" with choreography and lyrics of STG Crew in collaboration with students of the Establishment Vila Mar Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM, and with a student in multimedia Professional School Christopher Columbus.
This video came up with the goal of being a vector disseminator (video with viral character) of the message of Eco Compatible but in a different way, current, and directed to the target population that adheres to the social networks that are fundamental to the success of transmission of good practice that the project intends to.
-Execution of a graffiti by the artists of the New Disorder Graffiti Crew, who promoted through this form of expression of street art, the message Eco Compatible allusive practices associated with the marine environment, in this particular case, the Natural Reserve of Garajau.
-Presentation of the results of the brook cleanup and beach at the premises of the Establishment-Vila Mar Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM/Natural Reserve of Garajau held during the morning, by young people, educators, teachers, technicians and other employees of this establishment that is institutional stakeholder project and by elements of the SPNM.
Visit to the Natural Reserve of Garajau and cleaning to beach of Lazareto
On the 14th and 16th of May 2014 a group of students at the school Jaime Moniz and Carmo visited the Natural Reserve of Garajau and had a brief explanation alluding to it, and a recognition of the limits of the Marine Reserve.
In the end, there was still one Eco action, where after sensitized these young people, together with a group of students from the Establish Vila Mar, collaborated with SPNM in cleaning the beach Lazaretto.
At the end, everyone was satisfied with the result obtained and the nature thanked!
The project Eco Compatible attended the Basic School 2/3 Estreito de Câmara de Lobos
On 3 March took place in school 2/3 Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, an action aimed at training teachers, whose theme was Natural World Heritage Laurissilva and where it was made known the project Life Eco Compatible which addressed the importance of good practices and correct conduct to take natural spaces like the Laurissilva, leisure and agricultural aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and economic activities, enhancing your enjoyment.
On Saturday 08, there was a route in the area of Laurissilva, with accompaniment of a technician from the SPNM who explored the theme in loco.
The Eco was present in ceremony at Green Flag raising
On February 25, 2014, Establishing "Vila Mar" – Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM, celebrated the Green Flag raising ceremony of the Eco-Schools programme.
This event was attended by His Excellency, the Regional Secretary of environment and natural resources where after the Flag raising ceremony Eco-Schools can view the spot the Garden this pedagogical institution that is crafted by students and teachers.
The Establishment "Vila Mar" – Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM introduced a set of activities undertaken within the framework of environmental education, while institutional stakeholder project Life Eco Compatible, and the Eco-Schools programme.
The project Life Eco Compatible is the responsibility of the SPNM, which aims to promote good practices in protected areas in order to develop socioeconomic and biodiversity.
The project Life Eco Compatible was present in the celebrations of Warden Nacional day
In celebrations of Warden National Day, on 2 February, in Ponta de São Lourenço, had the moment ECO, with the aim of raising awareness and promoting best practices in natural spaces included in the Natura 2000 network.

The ECO was present in Porto da Cruz
On 21 December, the Project Life Eco Compatible, joined to another action of awareness and beach cleanup in Lagoa and Maiata - Porto da Cruz, promoted by ASRAM-Association of Surfing da Region Autonomous of Madeira where 50 volunteers were present.
This activity as well as promoting good environmental practices in natural areas in support of socio-economic development and biodiversity, intended to sensitize the whole local community to the importance of citizenship.
Eco attended regional meetings of the Green Key programs and Blue Flag
In the days 09 and 13 December, the Regional Direction of Spatial Planning and Environment (DROTA) while institutional stakeholder project Life Eco Compatible, invited the Madeira Natural Park Service to disclose the aforementioned project in the regional meetings, once they recognize to be the most relevant disclosure of same by promoters of nominations to the Green Key Programs and Blue Flag.
ECO COMPATIBLE was in National seminar of ABAE
On 29 November, the Project Life Eco-compatible at the invitation of the Blue Flag Association of Europe (ABAE) was presented at the national seminar of the said Institution, under the theme "Pollution of the Oceans – Clarify, Plan and Act?".
This seminar took place in Sesimbra and it constituted an excellent opportunity to publicize and promote the work of communication and awareness that has been developed within the framework of the promotion of good practices.
The traveling exhibition of the said project was also present during the event.
The ECO attended the Tertulia – "The role of women in the fisheries sector"
Yesterday, 27 November, between the 2:0 pm and the 6:0 pm, held at the Civic Center of Caniçal a debate entitled "The role of women in the fisheries sector" organized by the Regional Direction of Fisheries.
The project Life Eco Compatible was present, and inquiries were carried out to this target audience to evaluate the various actions taken place under this project.
This meeting aimed to meet women that are linked directly or indirectly to this sector, intending to help chart a new paradigm of the role of women in the fishing industry, which puts today actively and in the processes.
Also contributed to enhancing the self-esteem of the fishers, women of fishermen and women in General, emphasizing the importance of the role that these play within the local community.

The Eco was present in the campaign "Friends of the Sea"
On November 16 by 15:30, within the framework of the campaign "Friends of the Sea", and integrated into the National Day celebration of the sea ran a cleaning campaign in calhau da Serra de Dentro, in Porto Santo.
Coastal cleanup being fundamental to the preservation of the environmental quality of these sites, the "Friends of the Sea" campaign, intended to involve a typical community actively in conservation of natural spaces of the island, collecting debris brought by the sea or even abandoned by bathers, and whose presence degrades the landscape and cause negative impacts on the marine and coastal environment.
The project LIFE Eco compatible was present, where unveiled its main goal through forward best practices for the socio-economic sustainability, human use and biodiversity in Natura 2000 in the Madeira Archipelago.
Some campaign materials were distributed.
The project Life Eco Compatible attended the celebration of "National Day of the Sea", in the Whale Museum of Madeira
On November 15 by 5:0 pm, within the framework of the National Day celebration of the sea, was signed the Protocol of accession to the status of institutional Stakeholder Project Life Eco Compatible between the Service of the Natural Park of Madeira and the Whale Museum.
In this way, the Whale Museum becomes an institutional supporter of that project that aims to promote and enhance the compatibility between the development of socio-economic and cultural activities with protected areas/natura 2000.
Already on Saturday November 16 by 10:0, there was the Moment Eco for younger audiences where was distributed some include disclosed material as well as solicitation of project stakeholders.

Eco Compatible on the 3rd Grand Prix of Windsurf in Porto Moniz
On 19 and 20 October was held the 3rd Grand Prix of Windsurf in Porto Moniz ", an event of CTM's responsibility, in partnership with the Clube Naval do Seixal, that counts with the support of the municipality of Porto Moniz Hotel Moniz Sol e Meio and is associated with the Natural Park of Madeira, through its project Life Eco Compatible.
The Organization predicted the participation of 30 to 40 regional sailors, highlighting the presence of João Rodrigues, Olympic yachtsman.
The project Eco-compatible was disclosed at this event and aimed to raise even more Stakeholders, i.e. people who believe in our cause and will pass our message! This passes for promoting and enhancing the compatibility between the development of socio-economic activities, with the management of protected areas.
This project already has the high patronage of his Excellency the President of the Republic.

Eco Compatible joined Eco-social programme "Save the Planet" from JMEvents
On October 18 by 7:30 pm, the ECO was present at the Fnac coffee the Madeira Shopping for presentation of Eco-Social programme "Save the Planet" from JMEvents.
This project "Save the planet", integrated in the socio-environmental responsibility program of JMEvents company, aims to assist not only those who need it most, as also instruct for a global change of principles and fundamentals in the environmental area.
In this framework, the company to be aware of the objectives and actions of the project Life Eco Compatible wanted to become a supporter of the same, i.e. institutional stakeholder, and as first action, the public presentation of the "Save the Planet" will disseminate the project Eco Compatible and raise even more Stakeholders, i.e. people who believe in our cause and will pass our message! We remind you that the main objective is to promote and strengthen the compatibility between the development of socio-economic activities, with the management of protected areas.

The ECO awareness and action supports beach cleanup promoted by ASRAM
The Association of Surfing of Autonomous Region of Madeira (ASRAM), while the project stakeholder Life Eco Compatible, promoted on 5 and 6 October an awareness action and beach cleanup in Porto da Cruz.
The awareness-raising action was about the project Life Eco Compatible that promotes environmental best practices in natural areas in support of socio-economic development and biodiversity and about the Natural Reserve of Rocha do Navio - activity included in Madeira World Games.
The Eco supports the Madeira Festival Nature
From September 30 to October 6, 2013, the ECO was present at the 3rd Festival of Nature (Madeira Nature Festival), on Avenida Arriaga where provided an ECO wall climbing experience and giving knowing Nature activities in protected areas.
Green Family knows the project Life Eco Compatible
On 3 October, under the Ecolabel project, the hotel Jardim Atlântico gathered guests and collaborators "Green family" and visited the service information centre of the Natural Park of Madeira (CISPNM), better known as core of Dragon trees.
This group of participants of the project "Green Family" found out that is from the CISPNM that are performed all activities of environmental education of the SPNM and received all the information concerning the project Life Eco Compatible.
This project promotes good environmental practices much sought after and valued by the theme group.

On 24 September, with the aim to sensitize the visitors who come to our region by boat, the institutional stakeholder Madeira Adventure Kingdom, awareness customers ship AIDA on the project LIFE ECO Compatible.
Eco-Compatible in II Trail Santana Madeira Biosphere
It was on September 14 that the municipality of Santana received one of the biggest sporting events in the municipality, where featured more than 300 athletes to travel the rails of the UNESCO biosphere reserve.
The ECO was there and during the afternoon recalled the good practices to have in natural spaces like the Laurisilva forest, and we talk about the project Life Eco compatible proposed by SPNM that already has the high patronage of his Excellency the President of the Republic.
The Eco was present at the Desertas event... 25 years of project
On 7 September celebrated the 25 years of the Desertas project. This initiative intended to promote approximation of the population to the protected areas and the fostering of sustainability.
During the day took place the "moment Eco". This project proposed by SPNM already has the high patronage of his Excellency the President of the Republic and remember all visitors the best practices to have in natural spaces like the Desertas Islands.

Eco Compatible was in Madeira Mall
From 17 to 30 August, was in the commercial center of the Madeira mall the exhibition allusive to the project Life Eco Compatible.
People who visited this exhibition, received information concerning good practice to have in protected areas without regresses into decrease of quality of the same.
For such were available several vectors in the Madeira Mall, such as an onsite information desk, a traveling exhibition allusive to the project; a video, multimedia information and a rock-climbing wall.
Visitors also had the opportunity to join the project supporting him making individual stakeholders.
ECO was present at the seminar "Santana biosphere reserve"
On 5 July, began the seminar "Santana biosphere reserve" organized by the Basic and Secondary School Bishop Manuel Ferreira Cabral.
This seminar took place between 5 and 7 July, and featured with several speakers addressing topics such as nature, biodiversity, heritage, ethnography, among others.
The project Life Eco compatible was present and revealed its main objective, which is to transmit the good practices for the socio-economic sustainability, human usufruct and biodiversity in Natura 2000 network in the Madeira Archipelago.
Sea Monster
On 26 June, the Establishment "Vila Mar"- Social Security Institute of Madeira, IP-RAM in partnership with the service of Natural Park of Madeira inaugurated the installation of "sea monster", on the promenade along the seaside complex of Ponta Gorda.
This work of art arises in the context of Establishing Vila Mar being a stakeholder of the project Life Eco-compatible, which aims to promote good practices in protected areas in support of socio-economic development and biodiversity.
This work called "sea monster" has been prepared by young people and teachers of the establishment Vila Mar with the garbage collected in cleanup actions and aims to draw attention to the problem of trash in the ocean and the correct action to take.
When visiting this site keep in mind: the garbage at sea is a social problem, transversal and global.
Did you know that 80% of marine trash originates on land?
Everyone can contribute, changing the attitude and changing the behavior.

Beach clean-up in Fajã dos Padres
The "Fajã dos Padres" while individual stakeholder of project Life Eco Compatible, promoted on June 22 a beach cleanup action and the seabed, such as it does every year, with the collaboration of volunteers.This action arises, as the responsible say "with the awareness that our actions echo by future generations and that the maintenance of environmental quality is on all of us".
The Service of Madeira Natural Park joined the initiative and promoted an awareness action allusive to the project Life Eco compatible that promotes best practices in natural areas in support of socio-economic development and biodiversity.
The project Life Eco Compatible was present at the official ceremony of hoisting of the Blue Flag for marinas, at Marina da Quinta do Lorde
Marina Quinta do Lorde was chosen by the national coordination of the Blue Flag, to be the marina to make the official ceremony of hoisting of the Blue Flag for Marinas.
This ceremony took place on saturday, June 15, where he signed the protocol of stakeholder of project Life Eco Compatible of the Service of the Natural Park of Madeira.
In this way, the Marina da Quinta do Lorde became a supporter of the project that aims to promote and enhance the compatibility between the development of socio-economic and cultural activities with protected areas/natura 2000, as is the case of Ponta de São Lourenço.
Since 2007 that Marina Quinta do Lorde has the blue flag awarded by the blue flag Association of Europe, in recognition of work in pursuit of a sustainable development model based on Environmental Protection, implementation of good environmental practices and promotion of Environmental education and information actions with our team and clients.
This year the theme of Blue Flag is "Natural and Cultural Heritage" and will be performed several concerted activities on this theme, with the Ponta de São Lourenço in prominence.

Underwater Nature Festival
From 3 to 8 June the Galo Resort Hotels organized the first edition of the "Underwater Nature Festival" from which the service of the Natural Park of Madeira's partner, aiming to promote and raise awareness of the Natural Reserve of Garajau and for recreational and sports activities which can be enjoyed in that protected area.
The Galo Resort Hotels, institutional stakeholder project Life Eco Compatible took this event as a platform for the dissemination of this project and with the aim of raising more Stakeholders.
The project Life Eco Compatible attended the Week BioMadeira
The Regional Secretariat of the environment and natural resources, through the Regional Direction of Agriculture and Rural Development (DRADR), with the collaboration of the University of Madeira and OrganicA-organic farming Promotion Association of Madeira, held another edition of BioMadeira Week, which this year had as main objective to raise awareness of the vast possibilities that organic farming allows you to explore and develop.
The event ran from 17 to 24 May had as slogan "creating opportunities" and intended to promote organic farming, as an activity increasingly comprehensive and promoter of new businesses and capabilities in different areas.
The project Life Eco Compatible was present in Largo da Restauração, we talk about the project and join individual stakeholders to this cause.
Project Life Eco Compatible participated in the I Jornadas Tourist animation the RAM
On May 6 the LIFE project was presented in the first Eco Compatible journeys Tourist animation of the RAM, which took place on 6 and 7 may in the Auditorium of the Regional Secretariat of the environment and natural resources, in the Golden Gate Building, 5th floor.
The seminar sponsored by the class A of the Technical Course Information and Tourist Activities was free entry but subject to compulsory, being the enrollment limited to capacity of the Auditorium.
Project Life Eco Compatible attended the seminar "Sea: sensitization, education and potential"
On April 19 held the seminar "Sea: sensitization, education and potential" organized by the Department of school Basic School Eco and secondary Gonçalves Zarco.
This initiative over three days, with various activities, such as forums, workshops and field outputs.That day there was a communication project-Life Eco allusive compatible which addressed the importance of good practices and correct conduct having on marine or coastal areas, aiming at the safeguarding of biodiversity and economic activities, enhancing the enjoyment and leisure.
On Sunday, day 21, participants enjoyed an on-the-spot explanation about the Natural Reserve of Garajau.
The project Eco Compatible was present at the seminar "Sustainable tourism in rural areas: experiences of success in Portugal and Europe" - Castro Verde
The project LIFE Eco compatible coordinated by the service of the Natural Park of Madeira, the Regional Secretariat of the environment and natural resources, at the invitation of the League for the protection of nature (LPN) was submitted on March 7 at the seminar "sustainable tourism in Rural areas: experiences of success in Portugal and in Europe," in Castro Verde.
This seminar took place within the framework of the project of the program of the National Rural network: "tourism in Rural Areas: identification, promotion and dissemination of good practices" and seeks to promote and systematize a set of good practices at the level of tourism activity in rural areas, so as to widen the dissemination of knowledge and contribute to the sustainability of the activity.
It is in this framework that the project LIFE Eco compatible that characterizes for being Informative scope/Communicative received this Honorable invitation to participate and where unveiled its main goal through forward best practices for the socio-economic sustainability, human use and biodiversity in Natura 2000 in the Madeira Archipelago.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira the big attraction that the classified nature areas represent for nature tourism/active tourism is an asset for the economic development of tourist activity and is by promoting biodiversity in these areas that we will be able to maintain and increase this offer.
It is in this sense that the project LIFE Eco compatible discusses best practices for the development of tourism activities in protected areas, integration with the best practices applied in fishery and agriculture activities, so that more and better biodiversity revert in favour of economic and social welfare activities in the region.
Be Eco Compatible on "Protected Areas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira - RAM"
On 11 February, in the D. School Lucinda de Andrade in São Vicente, there was one action for teachers under the theme: "Protected Areas in the Autonomous Region of Madeira - RAM."
This action was supported by the Technical Service of Madeira Natural Park where talked about the protected areas of the region, the sites of Natura 2000, project LIFE Eco Compatible and the best practices to take into natural areas.
Some campaign materials were distributed and some stakeholders join the project.On Saturday the action ended with the practical part, with the output of the Group and visit to some protected areas of wood.
Project Life Eco Compatible initiated communication actions with professional fishermen
According to the goals of the project it is important to make a personal commitment to all economic groups that enjoy and interact with the biodiversity of our classified areas.
Certain that more and better biodiversity in our archipelago will result in economic benefits to the fishery, agriculture and nature tourism, it is important that these economic activities are the promoters of this biodiversity.
Thus, the project LIFE Eco Compatible makes communication actions to various target groups mentioned, to strengthen its action of good practice in favour of island biodiversity and their economic activity.
In partnership with the Regional Direction of Fisheries was promoted a "ECHO Time" integrated in training action for professional fishermen held on February 7, at the Civic Center of Caniçal.
ECO supports Warden day celebrations
On February 2 the project LIFE Eco compatible supported its institutional stakeholder "Association of Nature Wardens" in celebration of the national day of the warden. Through a guided tour by the protected area of Ponta de São Lourenço, a group of about 50 guests, belonging to nature tourism companies and sports groups or associations,check the potentiality of this Natura 2000 area, to practice active tourism and sports activities in nature.
At the end of the walk, next to the"Casa do Sardinha", the guests were invited to join this project by signing the Protocol for institutional or individual stakeholder, receiving in return a kit of material produced within the framework of the project to make echo the messages of good practices in protected areas, for its customers or associates.

Be Eco-Compatible - communication campaigns in protected areas
On 29 January, in the framework of the Project Life Eco Compatible, we started communication campaigns in the protected areas to sensitize the visitor and/or observers of species on the most appropriate behaviors while visiting a special area of conservation (Natura 2000 sites).
At the same time, it was made a little inquiry and a campaign of raising Individual Stakeholders.
The project ECO Compatible supported stakeholders in São Silvestre race
It was with pleasure that the ECO Compatible project supported a group of individual stakeholders that enrolled 2012 São Silvestre race. The challenge that we voluntarily intend to give more and better fruit.
This is the motto of this project, take a personal commitment to make small changes on our day to day behaviour, that will have collective effects in the long term, very important to the development of biodiversity that surrounds us and therefore on our economy and quality of life.
Through the t-shirt "I WEAR THIS CAUSE", our stakeholders ran the streets of Funchal trying to give their best.
In what place they finished?
It doesn’t matter, what matters is that they achieved the goal successfully.

The ECO was present in 2.º Madeira Nature Festival, on Avenida Arriaga (center of Funchal) providind a wall climbing experience and ECO tours to protected areas of Ponta de S. Lourenço, Areeiro or Garajau.
Action "be ECO BECOMPATIBLE in protected areas" and the Nature reserve warden day celebrations
As part of the celebrations of the day of the Nature reserve warden was held an action "be ECO COMPATIBLE in protected areas" promoted by the project Life Eco-compatible.
This initiative took place on February 3, beginning with a cleansing action in the area of Ponta de São Lourenço, to raise awareness and promote good practices in the enjoyment of nature in natural areas included in the Natura 2000 network .
Due to bad weather that was felt, was only possible to perform an hour of cleaning, but which resulted in the collection of more than 200 kg of waste, with special emphasis to the great amount of empty glass bottles.
After the gathering was promoted a communication session, which included the distribution of pocket ashtrays, calling attention to that even the smallest waste have impact on the environmental quality of protected areas and in their biodiversity.
Life Eco-compatible and the Nature reserve warden Day celebrations
Within the framework of the celebrations of the day of the Nature reserve warden will be held an action "be ECO COMPATIBLE in protected areas" promoted by the project Life Eco-compatible!
This initiative will take place on February 3, beginning at 10:00, in "redondo" (end of the regional road in Caniçal) da Ponta de São Lourenço and consists of a cleaning action, with the aim of raising awareness and promoting best practices in natural spaces included in the Natura 2000 network.
It will also raise individual stakeholders to this cause.

Our life insurance, our natural capital: an EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020
On January 28 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union the opinion of the European Economic and Social Committee on the ‘Communication from the Commission: Our life insurance, our natural capital: an EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020’.
In this document we can highlight:
“It is therefore of the greatest importance that the forthcoming political reform processes (e.g. fisheries, agricultural, transport, energy and cohesion policy) be closely linked to the biodiversity strategy.”
“There is a clear need for information and knowledge about biodiversity and its complex interactions with development and employment…”
Part 3 of the communication sets out a framework for action for the next decade, with six targets:
1: Fully implement the Birds and Habitats Directives;
2: Maintain and restore ecosystems and their services;
3: Increase the contribution of agriculture and forestry to maintaining and enhancing biodiversity;
4: Ensure the sustainable use of fisheries resources;
5: Combat invasive alien species; and
6: Help avert global biodiversity loss.
